A member of Saddam Hussein's security detail recalls what happened on the day he was executed and the days leading up to the hanging. He discusses Hussein's demeanor before the execution and explains when the former President finally died, he cried. He also remembers how he asked Hussein to appeal to the Pope and recalls how Hussein refused. Then, an expert on execution explains why the rope used to hang Hussein was the wrong type and another expert discusses why the execution should have been stopped to give Iraqi citizens true justice. Hussein was the 5th President of Iraq and played a key role in the 1968 coup. He ruled from July 16, 1979 to April 9, 2003 and was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006 after being convicted of charges related to the 1982 killing of 148 Iraqi Shi'ites.
