Lisa Churgin recalls Russell Crowe’s acceptance speech

Lisa Churgin, a film editor who worked on "Reality Bites," "Dead Man Walking," "Gattaca," and many other films, remembers when Russell Crowe won an Oscar for his starring role in "Gladiator." At the March 25, 2001 award show, Crowe took home the statuette for portrayal of Maximus Decimus Meridius. "Gladiator" was a critical and box office hit, earning over $400 million and spawning a wave of historical epics. Crowe had been nominated for Best Actor the year before for "The Insider" and would be nominated the next year for "A Beautiful Mind." Churgin herself was nominated in the Film Editing category for the 1999 film "The Cider House Rules."
