President Bush announces the start of the ground war in Kuwait, and why it was necessary. His first person account explains the demands of the U.N on Saddam in Kuwait and Saddam has done in response to these demands. Bush declares that they will " use all forces available to eject the Iraqi army from Kuwait". At the 6 minute mark reporters analyze the situation and at 7:32 Bush shares his response to a public message from Saddam Hussein after the start of Operation Desert Storm. The Gulf War (2 August 1990 – 28 February 1991), code named Operation Desert Storm (17 January 1991 – 28 February 1991) was a war waged by a U.N.-authorized coalition force from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. The war is also known under other names, such as the Persian Gulf War, First Gulf War, Gulf War I, Kuwait War, or the First Iraq War, before the term "Iraq War" became identified instead with the 2003 Iraq War.
