Alice Paul, the well-known American suffragist, penned the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923. Paul, during her lifetime of activism and lobbying for women's rights, experienced imprisonment and torture. Her tribulations and victories in her fight for gender equality are highlighted in this video. The ERA was introduced into the Senate for the first time on December 10, 1923, and to the House on December 13, 1923.
