Ashley, a high school student in DC, explains how hearing John Carlos speak about the 1968 black power salute made her feel and how it encouraged her to get involved in social change. Carlos and athlete Tommie Smith are known for doing the black power salute during the 200-meter dash Olympic medal ceremony.
