Assassination of John F. Kennedy
Neither surprised nor shocked

I was not surprised, when I heard the news, perhaps almost having expected some fanatic waiting to kill President Kennedy. Long before the assassination, he had made, I felt, enemies on the right as well the left with his policy toward Cuba. First he initiated the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, but then, at the most critical moment, refused to follow up with an air strike and ending in disaster. I believe the assassin did have some Cuban connection. Perhaps as a veteran of WWII there is little in violence which can any longer shock me. Perhaps also my training as a Military Intelligence NCO, one of the Ritchie Boys', one is prone to continue analysing everything.
