Veteran Barry Scheuermann describes his duties in the US military during Operation Desert Storm as a member of the 628th Transportation company. Scheuermann explains how they fueled tanks on the battlefield and comments on the biggest mistake of the Gulf War. The Gulf War lasted from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991, but became the code named Operation Desert Storm on January 17, 1991. It was waged by a U.N.-authorized Coalition against Iraq in response to Saddam Hussein's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. It's also known as the Persian Gulf War, First Gulf War, Gulf War I, Kuwait War, or the First Iraq War, but the term "Iraq War" now refers to the 2003 Iraq War.

Mr. Parker, who served in the U.S. Army during the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War, recalls what it was like being out in the midst of battle. His first person account reveals everything from the weirdest things he saw out at war to the saddest and most memorable experiences. He also describes the many countries he was able to visit such as Germany and Korea. The Gulf War (2 August 1990 – 28 February 1991), code named Operation Desert Storm (17 January 1991 – 28 February 1991) was a war waged by a U.N.-authorized coalition force from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. The war is also known under other names, such as the Persian Gulf War, First Gulf War, Gulf War I, Kuwait War, or the First Iraq War, before the term "Iraq War" became identified instead with the 2003 Iraq War.

Their first person accounts show how hard it was to keep in contact with their loved ones and how that sometimes caused them depression. They lived for the support of their families.
Edith Lederer, the AP's first female resident correspondent in Vietnam, discusses the restraints of the media coverage on the US military during the Gulf War. In her first person account, Edith is shocked to find how tightly closed the US military was in terms of press coverage and how she was only able to interview a soldier that was being told what to answer and what not to say.
