Joseph McCarthy is interviewed about what he believes McCarthyism really is, and whether he has regrets about his tactics regarding the State Department. McCarthyism began in the United States during the period of the "Second Red Scare", lasting roughly from 1950 to 1956. During this period, fear of communism enveloped the US and efforts came about to find and repress communists in America.

Richard Feynman, a scientist and researcher who worked on the Manhattan Project, shares his experiences on the project. Feynman was asked to leave his research for his PhD thesis and join the project instead. He discusses his moral issues and justifications during the development of the bomb. The Manhattan Project was a research project during World War II to develop an atomic bomb.

Sheila Horvits recalls growing up Jewish during the McCarthy era, and how McCarthyism seeped into every aspect of life. McCarthyism was the practice of accusing people of disloyalty to the United States and of having communist leanings. The McCarthy era lasted from about 1950 to 1956 in the United States.

Wendy Davis discusses her filibuster of Senate Bill 5. On June 25, 2013, Senator Wendy Davis of District 10 in Texas held a filibuster that forced Governor Rick Perry to need to call a special session to continue the debate of a budget bill that cut $4 billion from public education in the state. Davis says that she was the only Senator who was willing to hold the filibuster – and that this was the first time she’d worn flat shoes to a Senate meeting.

Yousafzai wrote an anonymous blog for BBC and a documentary was filmed on her life; she has also published a book on her experiences. He discusses the struggle to decide between abiding by these ideas and working around them.The McCarthy era began about 1950 and lasted until about 1956, in which repression of communism and fear and paranoia of its spread took hold of the United States.

Years later, President Jimmy Carter's 1980 Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) reached a decision that these internment camps were not justified and the U.S. government paid reparations to survivors. Finally in 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed into law an apology for these decisions and "failure of political leadership."
