Victoria Pendleton has retired after winning a silver metal in London for the 2012 Olympics. She represented Great Britain as English track cyclist who specialized in the sprint, team sprint and keirin disciplines. In her first person account, she exclaims how happy she was to achieve her medals but it was time to bow down and spend time having a life outside of cycling. In 2012 she won the gold medal in the keirin, as well as silver in the sprint. The cycling competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place at five venues between 28 July and 12 August. Eighteen events were contested and around 500 athletes participated.
