Gerald Eskenazi, a reporter for the New York Times, recalls covering the Miracle on Ice game in the cramped, dark arena and his other experiences in Lake Placid. He describes the arena and the complicated process he used to file his story in the crowded press box. The ‘Miracle on Ice’ refers to the 1980 US Olympic hockey team’s defeat of the Russians on February 22nd and their winning Gold medal game against Finland two days later led by Coach Herb Brooks.

Rosa Parks recalls being arrested for refusing to change seats and explains exactly where she was sitting when the bus driver asked her to move. The Montgomery Bus Boycott began in response to the arrest of Rosa Parks and successfully ended with the court ordered desegregation of all Alabama buses on December 20, 1956.

Jack Valenti was with President Kennedy on November 22, 1963 as part of the Presidential detail. He recalls the assassination and the aftermath in an interview with Bob Wallace from 1978. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas.
